Foolmoon: a life aquatic

Foolmoon was awesome. It was great to see so many members of the community turn out to celebrate April Fools and giant lanterns. I was impressed with how many of the luminaries were inspired by various sea creatures.

Me: Awesome anglerfish!
Guy with luminary: Is that what it's called?
Sometimes I forget that other people may not be as interested in organism identification as I am.

Shadow puppeteers.

This angry fish kept biting people and other lanterns.

Not every luminary was a sea critter. Here we see little red robot and the classic block M.

Dragonfly larva are aquatic though the adults are not.

This was either a giant squid or a colossal squid. Regardless, it was the largest luminary at Foolmoon.

Another cephalopod.

I am truly sorry if you missed Foolmoon. Remember you can always check out Festifools on Sunday from 4-5 on Main Street.

  1. The anglerfish is in Finding Nemo!

Also, is that a little red robot, or is the Nain Rouge visiting from Detroit?

  2. That fish up there with the lips came along and "drank" from my beer mug luminary. Truly a lovely event!! :)

  3. I love cephalopods! I've seen three out of the four in real life in the wild, and I'm quite proud of that.
