But my esteemed co-author Mr. Connor Barrie pointed out to me that things here are actually quite good. If all we can complain about is the lack of Christmas tree removal, maybe we need some perspective. What do y'all think about the state of city services in A2? Obviously it could always be better, but are we living in the lap of (civic) luxury?

Tad Friend's article in last week's New Yorker regarding the proposal to privatize civic services in Costa Mesa, CA and terminate city employees that may have led to the suicide of a 29 year-old Vietnamese-American maintenance worker got me thinking. It's easy to complain in Ann Arbor, especially regarding local government and its services. I myself am sick of the noise of City Hall's construction, the stretch of Fourth St by the senior citizen's palace that screws up my suspension, and the fallen tree from Saturday's storm that was lying in the road for days.
