  1. Wow. I'm pretty disappointed that those weren't monitored in some way. Hopefully they at least got an email that I don't know about.

  2. The comments on annarbor.com just kinda prove how much people need to be educated about victim blaming.

  3. Gah, so many of those comments are terrible. I just went and flagged a bunch. Not sure how much help it will be, but if Victim Blaming isn't Hate Speech I don't know what is.

  4. I actually gave up reading the Com this week b/c I couldn't keep myself away from the comments section. Swore it off altogether & unsubscribed in Google Reader. My blood pressure has gone down considerably. Henceforth I will depend on you, Gentle Bloggers, & the Chronicle for my local news.

  5. @Quinn's "Wow. I'm pretty disappointed that those weren't monitored in some way."

I presume (perhaps incorrectly, I admit) that you imply censored in some way. Comments with a stupid analogy (Rolex) or a childish joke ("they're not sluts at all, har har har") are perfectly fair game in terms of freedom of speech. People won't stop being idiotic just because we censor their comments.

@Popples' "if Victim Blaming isn't Hate Speech I don't know what is."
"All black deserve to die." If you don't think that's an order of magnitude worse than the comments posted above, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.
