City Council Viewing Party

Last night's City Council Viewing Party was totally awesome. I just want to thank everyone who came out and give an extra special thanks to the Ann Arbor Chronicle for donating the money that allowed us to rent ABC's Tap Room. All in all it was a pretty exciting meeting. @juliewbee brought some really cool City Council Bingo Cards. In retrospect, bingo is probably a better than the City Council Drinking Game. During long meetings, the drinking game is pretty dangerous. We'll definitely have to do this again. One thing though: does anyone know if it's possible to get some real-time closed captioning for the CTV feed? There can be a pretty huge difference between the volume of different speakers at the council meetings.

See what I mean?
Did anyone get this guys name? He was the guy who accused everyone supporting the moratorium of being a slum-lord. Those of us watching at ABC admired his moxy.

And what a great meeting it was.

Though none of us at ABC made it through the whole meeting, I think the Viewing Party was a great way for people to get together and get involved in city politics. I also really enjoyed meeting a lot of internet-people in real life.

  1. I was thinking about the volume thing too. When I got home and put it on my laptop, I could hear it loud & clear. So maybe we need to project it through a laptop? I have a projector that I am happy to lend.
Let me know how I can help for the next one! I will buy real name tags even :)

  3. It was a pleasure to join everyone. I'm looking forward to the next viewing party. I also enjoy being labeled as one of the 'internet-people'.

  5. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the five-star rating and prefer cleanliness, great coffee and great service. The interface must be colorful, with more flair, and some cool features to choose.
