Jerry's Girls at the Performance Network Theater

All photos from PNT
Last weekend I was able to make it down to the Performance Network Theater for a production of the musical revue (is there another kind?) of Jerry's Girls. To be more explicit, Jerry Herman created a series of mid-century musicals including Hello, Dolly! and La Cage aux Folles. The PTN revived this musical on friday and will be continuing to do so until January. Performances are Thursdays at 7:30, Friday and Saturday at 8:00, Saturdays at 3:00 and Sunday at 2:00.

First of all, I am a musical novice. I did recognize some songs, but that's because I have seen the movie Wall-E far too many times. My friend who had accompanied me had admitted the same thing, so I think that's normal for people under thirty.

All PNT shows have great production value, with beautiful sets. Jerry's Girl's had a live band playing under a portion of the stage, providing the score to the revue. The actresses rotated between songs and costumes, with each seemingly having a different thematic presence on stage. My personal favorite song featured the actress below, bellowing out, mimicking Louis Armstrong's signature voice.
