Culs-de-sad

A few days before Christmas Murph tweeted a link to Culs-de-sad, a Tumblr that showcases Michigan's loneliest mansions. The typical Culs-de-sad post is a picture of a recently build cookie-cutter house built on an otherwise undeveloped cul-de-sac.

  1. I know that subdivision in Chelsea...the vacant lots at the north end of the development stayed that way for a long time because they are immediately adjacent to the city's water treatment plant (that's my theory, anyway). Yes, it smells bad in the summer. Yes, anyone who builds on on of those lots will have a lovely view of the entire treatment plant operation from their second-floor windows. The one lonely house in the picture was indeed the one lonely house for years and years UNTIL....it's now been joined by a few newcomers! The lonely house is lonely no more.
