If so, it might be good to estimate how much "going electric" in that way would increase your electric consumption. (For my current project, I estimate that my consumption would slightly more than double.) Given that, the plan would be to install just enough panels now to feed your current consumption, but to install an inverter now with enough capacity to handle the additional load when you "go electric", so at that time you can install more panels to generate the additional watts, without having to replace your inverter.Ken Winterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15391486972547106846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2281014352729737607.post-50394288342013070912021-02-13T13:38:37.370-05:002021-02-13T13:38:37.370-05:00Michigan's energy mix is not equal to DTE'...Michigan's energy mix is not equal to DTE's. DtE is only one of two large and dozens of small electrical generating utilities. IIRC Consumers has a larger share of nuclear while DTE is more coal-dependent; smaller utilities like Lansing and Holland's municipal utilities have gotten completely away from coal.Murph.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10255339952436339573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2281014352729737607.post-20018809836955373522020-11-17T13:09:24.760-05:002020-11-17T13:09:24.760-05:00Thanks for your comment. In 2020, DTE generates more than 58% of its power with coalErich Zhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14235008934121135779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2281014352729737607.post-86171932166953990452020-11-17T12:38:30.676-05:002020-11-17T12:38:30.676-05:00According to the government's latest stats, at...According to the government's latest stats, at https://www.eia.gov/state/?sid=MI#tabs-4, Michigan's current energy mix has gas and nuclear outweighing coal generation by more than 2 to 1. So it's far from mostly coal generated - that hasn't been true for something like a decade, contra the latest Michael Moore documentary. That's something very important to consider if you're looking to mitigate your cabin footprint.jtfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10279035600714686610noreply@blogger.com
