Thoughts on AnnArbor.com's new comment system

AnnArbor.com unveiled a new comment system today. It allows users to vote on comments and to reply to comments. It also removes the ability to add HTML tags to your comments. This is hella-lame. First, some HTML tags allow people to communicate more effectively by Bolding or Italicizing words in comments. Second, the HTML policy (see above) makes it seem like you cannot post links in your comments, when the truth is that if you paste a URL into your comment, it will automatically become a link.

  1. Yeah, the wording is exceptionally poor. It should read something like "Yes, you can include links in your comments. No special formatting is necessary. All you need to do is paste in the URL and it will be turned into a clickable link for you."
