Alligators of Michigan

While doing research on invasive species in Michigan, I came across this map for Alligator mississippiensis, the American alligator. What? Reports of alligators in Michigan? This can only get worse with climate change.

  1. We need the wolverine here more than ever. A wolverine could take on an alligator.

  2. That sounds like a great SyFy channel movie: "Alligator versus Wolverine: battle for the Lower Grand."

  3. The Wolverine would take out the Alligator...no problem. We have historical precedents of this...

  4. One of those sightings was in South Bend, Indiana; the red splotch is for the whole watershed.

"A 50-pound alligator, 10 pit bulls, two pythons and a tortoise were confiscated from a Mishawaka, Indiana home. The alligator had a 4-foot by 12-foot pond in a bedroom separated from the dogs by a 4-foot high wire fence. This was the second time an alligator has been removed from this home. 5. @Ed Thanks for the info. It looks like the one in the Lower Grand was actually found in a window well in Grandville.
