Michigan Microbrewery March Madness: Game 3

Yesterday's game is finishing up and barring something unforeseen it looks like Short's brewery will maintain its commanding lead over North Peak. Truly amazing. Today we head south to the Kalamazoo River Division where powerhouse Bell's Brewing is taking on New Holland. 5 Years ago, I wouldn't have thought New Holland had a chance, given Bell's extensive market penetration. However, New Holland has built a solid line of beers and with that comes a dedicated following. This truly is anybody's game.

Stay tuned tomorrow where we have Ann Arbor's Arbor Brewing Company taking on newcomer Wolverine State Brewing Co. This promises to be a match to remember.

  2. Come on, people! We can't have March Madness without upsets. Let's get it, New Holland!

  3. Name the last time someone said to you "Hey, you have to try this cool, new beer from Bell's."

  4. Chris, Maybe you should get a job as a spokesperson for New Holland.

  5. Hey, New Holland posted a link to Damn Arbor on their Facebook account! What nice guys. Doesn't this make you want to vote for them?

  6. It was even around 100 votes each and New Holland got 2/3 of rest.....that isn't statistically likely without an external force. In this case it was a Facebook mention. Maybe.

With regard to Bell's having cool new beer, I don't think that was a requirement for who should win. The cool, new beer I've had from New Holland was underwhelming. It was still very good but not enough to make me want to run out and get more. I am not suggesting that Bell's should win. I am, however, intending to make a point that things are popular for a reason whether it be quality, cost, or because it is just what you drink.

  7. Actually, it was several Facebook mentions. One by myself. Welcome to internet voting. And you're right, Anonymous, sometimes things are popular for a reason, like clever and persistent marketing.

(Oops, I just realized I had my personality switch set to "Condescending." Oh well, I'll just flip that over to "Braggart".)

Truthfully, I actually wanted New Holland to win because March Madness is about upsets and so I could say I called it (which I did!). It makes up for the lack of gambling. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go polish my giant ego. It needs to be shiny enough to reflect my victorious smirk.

  8. I would probably like you in real life Chris. For now though, I kind of hate you (you'll get off on that). I appreciate your delivery but, yes, I still kind of hate you.
