What a game yesterday. Bell's and New Holland were neck and neck most of the day. With 4 hours left to vote, it's still too early to call this one. Today we are bringing things a little closer to home with our first match in the Ann Arbor division: Arbor Brewing Company (and Corner Brewery) versus Wolverine State Brewing Company. ABC opened its doors in 1995 and since that time has become a favorite among Ann Arborites. Wolverine State Brewing Company is a newer entry onto the brewpub scene, opening up just last fall in Ann Arbor. Nevertheless, they are bringing a solid line of wonderfully named beers, a laid-back atmosphere, and what has been described as "the best foosball table around." Let the voting begin.
Tomorrow we are heading back to the Motor City Division where Woodward Avenue Brewers takes on Detroit Beer Company. Stay tuned.
Arbor Brewing has an unfair advantage. I hope this gets a few more people to try out the really great tasting line of brews at Wolverine.
ReplyDeleteWhen Wolverine first started I thought it might be re-branded swill to sell before football games - it is definitely a high quality hand made beer.
This is an obvious choice. Yes, Wolverine makes a fine lager- but ABC and it's sister company, Corner Brewery, in Ypsilanti make in my opinion some of the top beers in the state. I'd be surprised to see if they didn't make it to the final two.
ReplyDeleteIt's a tough call. I've drank more Wolverine beer than any other in the last 6 months because of the great mug club and convenient location. Hanging out at Corner though in the beer garden is great in the summers and many of their beers are very tasty.
ReplyDeleteMissed Original Gravity in the competition. The 440 Pepper Smoker, Chrome Truk and Belgian Training Wheels are really good beers.
i'm so glad you guys are doing this. michigan beer totally deserves its own march madness. this is a tough match-up.
