  1. I love this map a lot. Notice all the now-missing streets around town, especially around the university. College St, 12th St, Volland St. Jefferson goes through to State. St (LSA Building now), Thayer appears south of the Diag (Law Quad now), Packard is a three block affair before Grove St picks up the path to Ypsilanti.

There is, btw, a very large print of this opposite the bar in the Arbor Brewing Co. tap room that they open for parties and events.

  2. There used to be a really high resolution copy of this on Flickr where you could actually see the street names and what not. I like that in addition to Jefferson Street, there was also a "Jeffrson Street" on the map. Also, it looks like the street that is now Sunset was once less romantically named "Chub Street."

  3. It's really cool how you can see the changes in the city during this time period. i.e. construction of Ann Arbor Railroad, interment of Allen Creek.

  4. It looks almost like one of those, "Ann Arbor and the rest of the world" posters.

  5. You can see my house! I think it was built in the 1870s.
