Today two of Damn Arbor's own, Ben Houston and Erika Jost, celebrate their graduation from law school.
I first met Ben and Erika during Law School Orientation Week in Fall 2008. I mistook Ben's carrying around The Stories of Vladimir Nabokov as a homosexuality signifier, which is how I ended up talking to him in the Law School Student Lounge. Erika I met the next day when the three of us were on a walking tour of Ann Arbor; the rest, as they say, is history.
Lawyers often tell incoming law students that law school changes the way you think about the world; what comes up less often is that it's a long, hard slog, not merely because of the classes but also because of the environment. Having friends like Ben and Erika made it a lot more fun and a lot easier. I'm not graduating today because I have another year left due to my dual-degree program, but I'll be at Hill Auditorium making a lot of noise as they walk across the stage.

Congratulations. I hope that you guys aren't joining the ranks of folks that are going to be ex-Michiganders.
