Classic Top of the Park

At the risk of dating myself, I would like to point out that I kind of miss the good old days when Top of the Park was actually on top of a parking structure. It would be cool if someone got a powerful projector and started screening movies on the side of the elevator shafts again.

  1. Why is it still at the Fountain? I thought they were going to move it back after construction. It was way better on the parking structure. Remember how we used to do laps around the structure looking for people we knew like small town kids cruising the strip?

  2. Chris, I was about to bring up doing circles. Caroline, Jess, Colleen and I spent an entire summer talking to the guy at the Stucchi's stand in (terrible) British accents. Don't remember but he must have been cute or something.

  3. I was just thinking about this myself.

It's not even "Top of the Park" it's now "Middle of the Road"

  4. Lol Lizzy, we did? That is simultaneously hilarious and embarrassing! I remember the laps..but have thankfully blocked out the rest.

It really bums me out they never moved it back, they should def change the name to "Middle of the Road".

  7. I agree. Although the grass and trees can be nice, it's hard to take advantage as they insist on building that enormous sound/projection house right smack in the middle of everything--obstructing all views from the grassy area.
I'd be all for returning it to the parking structure--with better chairs--or keeping it where it is and moving the house back toward the fountain.

  8. Maybe they could just do the occasional movie on the parking structure...outside the summer festival.

  9. The old Top of the Park site was horrible - crowded and hot. The new location is much better.

  10. I loved TOP. Back in the day I could bring my kid(s) with their big-wheels to TOP before it got too crowded. But big-wheels or not the location was great. The natural theater layout with the slope of the structure made a great place to watch bands or the movies. Especially nice was the kids taking the stage with their blankets or sleeping bags for a film.

The new location is not as nice but is still an appreciated part of the summer in A2.
