Interesting use of Missed Connections

I've always assumed that Missed Connections was intended for one-in-a-million attempts to find that woman/man you made eye contact with while waking across the Diag. Apparently though, other people use it as a tool for crowdsourcing crime fighting. Take this, for example, from Ann Arbor's Missed Connections:
Searching for man in connection with retail fraud - m4mm (ann arbor )

Searching for a man who has been selling false concert tickets in and around the ann arbor area. He used the name Mike Pierce, and assumed a gmail account by the same name.

If you have any information on who this man is, and how he can be located please respond.

All tips and information are considered anonymous.

Please help.

This person is a pro and is wanted for retail fraud.

Sounds serious. I do hope though, that our local law enforcement agencies have better ways to spread the word about suspects than Missed Connections.
