Ann Arbor City Council Preview: November 5, 2026

Gentle readers, tonight is a very special edition of #a2Council. After 12 years, tonight is Mayor Taylor's final night as mayor. Here's the agenda.

The night kicks off with a reasonable, 20-item consent agenda. Of note, street closures for Midnight Madness, on Dec. 4th (CA-4).

There are 4 public hearings on the docket this evening. PH-1/B-1 is the second reading of the Dean II rezoning. This is 0.17 acres at 548 S Fifth Ave and would be rezoned to D1 from R4C. I think it's good to see this area being upzoned and developed more densely to slow the expansion of U of M.

PH-2/B-2 is for the second reading of the new Disorderly Conduct at Places of Religions Worship ordinance. PH-3/B-3 is the second reading of the new ordinance regulating currency kiosks. PH-4/B-4 is the second reading of the commercial vehicle markings ordinance.

There are two ordinance first readings tonight. C-1 is the first reading of a new ordinance governing sweatfree procurement. C-2 is the first reading of an ordinance to amend the rules around Public Works and Qualifications Required.

On to the resolutions. DC-1 is a resolution to approve the release of affordable housing covenants for Units 105 and 166 at Ashley Mews in preparation for the city to sell them. DC-2 is a resolution to acknowledge restrictive covenant at 841 Broadway. DC-3 is a resolution to accept an easement for a water main at Arlington Place. DC-4 is a resolution defining priorities for the Human Services Partnership. DS-1 resolution authorizing issuance of 2026 Capital Improvement Bonds up to $10m. DS-2 is the site plan for the Dean II.

And that's all there is. Make sure you follow the hashtag on Blue Sky for blow by blow action.
