Free Comic Book Day

Today is Free Comic Book Day. You should check out Vault of Midnight. It'll be a huge party there. Free comic books and tons of other cool stuff. This year, they also have a bunch of other local businesses doing promotions with them. For example, if you bring your Vault of Midnight bag to Literati, you get 10% off; if you bring it to the Waffle Shop, you are eligible for a special secret waffle: "Captain Midnight's Waffle of Doom!"

Hot new look for summer: triple glasses

This look works best when paired with double watch.

Water Hill Music Fest this Sunday

The Water Hill Music Festival is quickly becoming Ann Arbor's premier neighborhood sponsored outdoor music fest. I'm really excited for this year's lineup which includes some old favorites: Charlie Slick and The Appleseed Collective. There will also be sets by seasoned garage rockers, Chit Chat. There will also be a very special set from last year's breakout stars, Girls who Care. The Fest runs from 2-6pm on Sunday. Hopefully we'll see you there.

Bill's Beer Garden is open for the Season

EJ and I had the immense pleasure of attending a press preview night at Bill's Beer Garden. There I was able to capture this terrible picture this tender moment between Mark and Bill. It was great. Despite only being open for a few weekends in late fall, Bill's Beer Garden did a great job last season. It quickly become a the premier gathering spot. I feel like every time I go there, I reconnect with some old friend. If you go tonight, check out the Final Absolution by Dragonmead. It's pretty great.

Last night, in addition to beer samplers, they were slinging out some delicious margaritas. I don't know if Bill plans on making them available all year, but if they do, I would really recommend trying them.

Hot new look for summer: double watch

What's better than one timepiece? That's right, two timepieces.

The Pleasure of Sound

There's not a lot of things you can do when you are sick, but scouring the internet can be done no matter what. The video above is a collaboration between Matthew Dear and Jad Abumrad. Matthew Dear is a Michigan Alum and a cofounder of Ghostly International, the Ann Arbor record label. Jad Abumrad, radio god, can be heard sharing scientific wisdom through Radiolab on NPR. Together they are producing The Pleasure of Sound, an exploration of music and creativity. You can sign up for updates on the project here.

Mix Use Party, now on Facebook

Ann Arbor's newest political party, the Mixed Use Party, is now rocking a Facebook Page. You can check it out here.

Turtles!

Turtles love theses sunny spring days. Check out these guys sunning themselves on a log in Eberwhite Woods. Also, be extra careful when driving on roads near ponds; cars are really bad for turtles.

Hot new bike accessory for summer

Spotted on a sweet single-speed on State St.:

I am currently researching whether this bottle opener is specially designed to fit standard bottle cage mounts, or whether the spare one I have sitting at home will work on my bike.
