We already have that one guy's burgers...

The new Five Guys on State Street has been bustling with customers ever since it opened a few weeks ago. Because I love burgers so much, and because I have fond memories of eating at the Five Guys in Detroit's Greektown, it was only a matter of time before I tried it out myself.

Everyone seemed to find something there to enjoy. Adam, for instance, couldn't seem to resist dancing to the 80s music blasting--really blasting--from the speakers. Quinn went all rabid squirrel on the bottles of malt vinegar at every table: it's her favorite french fry dip. I ordered a cheeseburger and was pleasantly surprised that they put the cheese on the bottom. Cheese on the top becomes so customary that I often forget how savory cheese on the bottom can be. Delicious.

That said, if you want to get the best burger in Ann Arbor, go to Blimpy. You might have to wait forever, and you might get yelled at by a surly short-order cook for asking for ketchup on your patty. (He just grills it; why does he care that you're going to put ketchup on it later?) But, in the end, you'll be treated to the greasiest, most mouth-watering burger sandwich in the city.

And you won't give a second thought to where the cheese is stacked.

  1. Tim, I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I haven't been to Casey's since I've been of age. I'll make it a point to check it out soon.
