Get your vote on

Tomorrow, May 3rd you can vote on a proposal to extend Washtenaw County's Special Education Millage. My understanding is that voting in favor of this proposal keeps property taxes where they are currently while giving schools in the county much needed funds. If this measure fails, schools will loose an important source of funding at a time when funds from the state are being reduced. Ed Vielmetti produced a great guide to finding your polling station so check that out if you don't remember where to vote. If you are not registered to vote in Ann Arbor or Washtenaw County, you can register at any Secretary of State office or the City Clerk's office in City Hall. If you are a student who calls Ann Arbor home, seriously consider registering to vote and contributing to the local political process and discussion.

On a side note, there are other issues and proposals to vote on tomorrow, it would be great if there were a news paper (or website) that had produced an election guide, but alas, I have not been able to find one. Perhaps you, gentle reader, could share your knowledge, questions, and comments about tomorrow's election.

  1. I was the second voter at the Union (Ward 1, Precents 1 & 2) today at 10:45. Looks like a big turnout of students ...
