"Ann Ardor" dress: Does this sum up Ann Arbor?

ModCloth has this Ann Arbor themed dress for sale:
Flatter the land that you love right back as you browse the Main Street in this biscuit tank dress under a khaki coat. Walk in your stacked wood wedges and woven white tights over to the history museum to reminisce on exhibits you explored as a child.

I don't know, does this dress exemplify Ann Arbor? While most Ann Arbor natives do gush about the zeal they hold for their city, personally when I'm visiting I hope my parents have better things to say to me than to do the same about my cute dress... but to each his or her own, I suppose.

Read on and/or order — if you wind up wearing this dress in Ann Arbor, report back with pics! Don't think I will; it's cute, but not really my style.

  1. I believe that non-Michiganders believe that Ann Arborites wander the city on sunny days wearing muted, quirky, manic-pixie-dream-girl-style dresses...

  2. Ann Arbor is overrated ;-)

And so is that dress (and description).

  3. Man I miss AAIO. Regardless of what non-Michiganders think of Ann Arborites, it can't be worse than what other Michiganders think of us... (half joking).

  4. Haha! Of course my comment was referencing aaio.

I jumped back out here to say that I hope my comment didn't sound snarky. Y'all are doing a great job with DamnArbor and I enjoy reading it.

And I obviously love A2 since I've lived here for 30-something years (despite keeping one foot firmly planted in the Yooperland).

    Keep up the good work.

  5. It's true that the pretentious and superfluous description of the symbolic relationship between the dress and Ann Arbor is reprehensible

But let's not overlook the sage advice of wearing this dress with 'stacked wood wedges and woven white tights' That certainly deserves a place in 'Absurd Online Description' history.

(I do like this dress though!)

  6. I miss AAIO as well, it lead me to one of the funniest Michigan websites...the MZone and then to MGoBlog and that probably led me here as well. I loved the snarky comments there. Her new website hasn't been updated in forever though.
