Short Film: Ann Arborland: Hipsters

An interesting local short film. Somewhat Portlandiaesque.

  1. "Portlandiaesque" is the best new word I've learned so far this year.

  2. And it's a kind word to use too, sadly. It reminds me of an extended riff off any number of early scenes from PORTLANDIA. No characterization, all gag lines about the "hipster's" braggadocio over his/her cornupia of obscure culture tidbits, a strange death spiral of lower-upper-middle-class cultural capital...

  3. Great short, and I don't mean to nitpick, but did that guys jogging route bother anyone? He goes from running south on Ashley, to East on N. University (and from the bus station he passed earlier, I gather that was his second time going that way), to north on Detroit St. He goes west on S. Univ, but east thrugh Nickel's Arcade, and then east again on Liberty. If he starts going east on N. Univ and ends going north on Detroit, where could he possibly live? Was he running the world's most circuitous marathon? Is he some kind of rudderless Forrest Gump? Could someone reconstruct his run for me? This guy's run deserves it's own short film.

  4. The dubbed dialogue is certainly distracting.

  5. The dialogue was dubbed? You can hardly tell! Very funny!
