Beer in Brief: ABC's Bourbon Barrel Aged Jackhammer

I was fortunate enough to procure a sample of the limited edition bourbon barrel aged strong ale from a high placed anonymous source at ABC this evening. If you like bourbon, you will like this beer. It essentially tastes like a delicious smooth bourbon, but without the burning sting of hard liquor. There are lots of mellow smokey notes of oak, vanilla and maybe even just a hint of caramel at the beginning. The finish is very smooth with just the right malty notes. The only way I knew I wasn't sipping a whiskey was the lack of the alcohol mouthfeel. This is a good beer to sip on a cold night.
