Last night, my sister and I went to soft opening the soft opening of Lucky's Market's brand new Ann Arbor store. The grocery store is located in the old Kroger building on South Industrial. There is something especially nice about a brand new, clean grocery store with tall piles of bright produce.
Lucky's has a good selection of great looking produce. Yes, that is turmeric in the bottom right. |
My initial impression is that Lucky's fills an important niche in Ann Arbor's foodscape. They offer high quality food, but they also seem to be conscious of price.
A portion of Lucky's beer selection |
The beer and wine section impressed me almost as much as the produce section. It was expansive and had a great selection of microbrews but also had a few domestic sixpacks for under $5 and some nice low-end 22 oz cans.
There will be a local food fest at Lucky's this Saturday |
If you are thinking about checking out Lucky's, this Saturday might be your time to do it. I bet they will have samples.
Lucky's sells growlers and has beer on tap |
Lucky's has a nice looking prepared food section with some delicious smelling pizza. They also have beer on tap, but I'm not sure if you can consume it on site.
Another shot of the alcohol section |
All in all, I was pretty pleased with Lucky's and I think folks here will really embrace it.
This sounds awesome, especially since my house is about a 5 minute walk away!
ReplyDeleteBUT WHAT OF PRODUCE STATION?
ReplyDeleteI heard they will have a "sip n stroll" license for customers to drink inside of the store like Whole Foods - they just don't have one yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info SCHN.
