According to an article on The Com, the old Borders Flagship Store is being converted into restaurant and retail space on the first floor and office space on the second:
Oakland County developer Ron Hughes of Hughes Properties said the building at the corner of East Liberty and Maynard streets is being subdivided into five restaurant and retail spaces on the first floor, with contemporary office space on the second floor.All in all, this doesn't seem like too bad of an idea. It's nice to see something finally happening to the building.
Good thing, they've decided on what they could do about the building itself. It's to wasteful to just abandon it like that, you know, the building looks livable and could still manage to hold up business establishments just a little furnishing is needed.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what George said, it’s better if they just renovate the building to be able to utilize rather than abandoning it. I just hope they will develop the building and put up floor protection measures.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if it will push through then I hope they'll be putting up good restaurants. It's just a few minutes away from my apartment and it would be nice to have nice establishments nearby.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of restaurants would that be? I hope they would have furniture stores! Oh, how I love window shopping "literally". Of course I can't revamp the house every now and then, my husband would be furious. So through magazines and online stores, I design houses. Great, actually.
